Derek Bedry: Mr. Gay Canada 2016

Derek Bedry is the official representaive of Canada in the Mr. Gay World 2016 competition which will be held April 19-23, 2016 in Malta. This is the eight edition of the said contest. The winner of the 7th edition last year, Klaus Burkart of Germany resigned from his position and the title was given to Mass Luciano of Hongkong.

Derek Bedry studies communications at Simon Fraser University and is currently in a work co-op with the school's media relations team. He previously worked as a journalist for radio, newspapers and magazines. He often looks for ways to bring an LGBTQI+ perspective to writing projects, and has written in mainstream sources about queer issues and social justice. Derek wants to become a community engagement coordinator or spokesperson for a company with a great record of inclusivity, or even a human rights agency. He enjoys books, sci-fi movies and working out.
