Oelof de Meyer is the official representaive of South Africa in the Mr. Gay World 2016
competition which will be held April 19-23, 2016 in Malta. This is the
eight edition of the said contest. The winner of the 7th edition last
year, Klaus Burkart of Germany resigned from his position and the title
was given to Mass Luciano of Hongkong.
Oelof de Meyer has been chosen to be the delegate of South Africa after the organisers of Mr Gay South Africa (MGSA) have lost the license to send their winner to the Mr Gay World (MGW) competition. The local license has now been taken over by Grab Corporations, a
company that “covers all aspects of the fashion industry.” The owners of
Grab are Vernondo Boshoff and Louis Douglas.
The 28-year-old Joburg engineer was a contestant in the Mr Mardi Gras pageant during Knysna’s Pink Loerie Mardi Gras & Arts Festival in May last year.
South Africa has taken the Mister Gay World title in 2010 and 2011 and has hosted the international event in 2012 and 2015.
